Going Paperless? Know the Facts.

David

Nonprofit advocacy group Two Sides (featured in this blog last month) has launched a global awareness initiative about the environmental impact of electronic communication. The campaign stems from an investigation of unsubstantiated environmental marketing statements by U.S. companies that claim “paperless” billing reduces environmental impact. Two Sides recently completed a similar initiative in the U.K., resulting in several leading companies changing marketing language related to paper and the environment. You can read the full press release here.

What do you think of the new Two Sides initiative? Do you think companies should be able to position electronic billing as a “greener” alternative to paper without substantiating those claims? Tell us what you think.
